How to convert PNG to JPG
- Choose your PNG files or drop them on the page – they are converted right away.
- Adjust the quality, the background color for transparent areas or the size if needed. Convert again applies new settings to all files.
- Download each JPG, or all of them together as a ZIP.
Quality and file size
| Quality | Result |
|---|---|
| 95–100 % | Best quality and the largest files – for printing and archiving |
| 90 % (default) | Practically indistinguishable from the original at a fraction of the PNG size |
| 75–85 % | Clearly smaller files for websites and email; fine details soften slightly |
| Below 70 % | The smallest files, with visible blocks around edges and text |
JPG has no transparency: transparent pixels are filled with the background color – white by default, or any color you pick.
When PNG is the better choice
JPG is made for photos. Screenshots with small text, logos, icons and graphics with sharp edges or flat colors look cleaner and are often smaller as PNG. Keep PNG for those – or use a quality of 95 % or more when a JPG is required. For websites, WebP combines small files with transparency.
Frequently asked questions
What happens to transparent backgrounds?
They are filled with the background color you choose – white by default – because JPG cannot store transparency.
Can I convert many PNG files at once?
Yes. Drop as many files as you like; they are converted one after another and can be downloaded together as a ZIP.
Is JPEG the same as JPG?
Yes. JPG and JPEG are two file extensions for the same format; every program that opens one also opens the other.
Are my images uploaded?
No. The conversion runs in your browser, so your images never leave your device.
