How to convert JPG to PNG
- Choose your JPG or JPEG files, or drop them on the page.
- Optionally set a maximum width and height or a percentage to resize the images – otherwise they keep their size.
- Download each PNG, or all of them together as a ZIP.
What converting to PNG does – and what it doesn't
- No further loss: PNG is lossless, so editing and saving the image again adds no new compression artifacts.
- No recovered detail: what JPEG compression removed is gone – the PNG looks exactly like the JPG.
- No transparency: the background stays as it is. Removing a background needs an image editor.
- Larger files: photos usually become several times larger as PNG.
- Right way up, without location: the rotation stored by the camera is applied, and metadata such as GPS coordinates is not copied.

Frequently asked questions
Does converting JPG to PNG improve the quality?
No. It keeps the current quality from getting worse through further edits, but it cannot bring back detail that was lost when the JPG was saved.
Why is the PNG file larger than the JPG?
PNG stores every pixel without loss, while JPG discards detail that is hard to see. For photos, that makes PNG files several times larger.
Can I make the background transparent?
Not with this converter: it changes the file format, not the content. Use an image editor to remove a background, then save it as PNG.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser, and your images stay on your device.
